Hyperbaric Chamber & Chamber Treatments What we have is formally know as a DDC (Diving Decompression Chamber). It is used mainly for surface decompression for construction divers doing deep-water work. It is safer & more economical (not to mention more comfortable for the diver) to decompress on the surface using oxygen (sur"d" O2) than doing in water decompression. It can also be used to treat decompression sickness. A decompression chamber is known in legalese as a PVHO. (Pressure Vessel Human Occupancy). They are used to duplicate the atmosphere pressures sustained at depth in order to treat or control the decompression of a diver. In the case of treating the bends the chamber is used to reduce & maintain the size of the gas bubbles (ie, nitrogen) contained within the bodies tissues. Breathing O2 during treatment helps to flush the body of these gas bubbles.
The decompression is located at our shop. In the event we are using the chamber for a job & it is on a remote location, our cell phone will be the best means of getting a hold of us. The job will be stopped & chamber cleared in order to treat an injured diver. We will call our doctor with DAN (located in Ventura, CA) & inform him of the situation.
Our Hyperbaric chamber alone not only being required for deep water construction and inspection work, may also be used for the medical treatment of burn and diabetes victims.
